Bug Blitz 10 June 5, 1999

The Argosy Casino in Kansas City, Missouri had a bug and VW infestation on June 5, 1999. But this was welcome — and even planned. The show was hosted by the MOKAN Volkswagen Club, and it was an event to behold.

There were 53 classes, a Bug Blast stereo competition, a large awards presentation, and even Santa Claus ventured out into the heat to show off his 1977 VW Sleigh. The sleigh won the Bug Blast competition, as well as a class category (of which I am unsure).

Below are photos of many of the cars at the show — though not nearly all of the 60+ participants.

The show was great, and being the first show I entered, I was thrilled to come home with a Best In Class award! It might have been for the Under Construction class, but it was a class!
